Google receives record user complaints in July in India: These are the most complaints mentioned below

In July this year, Google saw a record number of user complaints in India.  The search giant received 37,173 user complaints, an increase of more than 13.6% since June.  At the same time, the company removed 6,89,457 bad contents in the country.  

Google must disclose them under the new 2021 IT rules.  According to the new 2021 IT rules, large digital and social media platforms with more than 5 million users must publish monthly compliance reports.

 The number of complaints and content removal actions by Google in India increased significantly in July.  The number of content items removed also increased by 7.6%.  The company said it has removed 551,800 accounts in the country as part of automated detection processes.

What are the most common complaints?

Most of the complaints received by Google from Indian users are related to copyright violations (35,341), other categories include trademarks, court orders, graphic sexual content, evasion, etc.

The tech giant received 37,173 complaints from individual users through the country's designated mechanisms during the same period regarding third-party content suspected of violating local laws or individual rights on various Google platforms.  "Complaints fall into several categories.

 Some requests may allege infringement of intellectual property rights, while others may allege violations of local laws that prohibit types of content for reasons such as defamation," Google said in a press release.

“We invest heavily in combating harmful content online and use technology to identify and remove it from our platforms.  This includes using automated detection processes for some of our products to prevent the spread of harmful content.  Harmful content, such as childish sexual content and violent content," Google said.

Pursuant to the Information Technology (Arbitration Guidelines and Digital Media Code of Conduct) (IT Rules) 2021, Google, along with other social media platforms, is mandated to publish a monthly transparency containing details of complaints received and action taken from users in India.  As well as removal actions resulting from automatic detection.
